The main character is Laura — the heroine who is a university educated, innocent 26 year old teen working in a book store. Her wardrobe is full of black skirts and trousers, white blouses and flat shoes. Unfortunately, she is about to lose her job in a bookshop but new opportunities are opening up for her and she is asked to help organize a literary and music festival. She doesn’t have much confidence in her own abilities, but she soon finds out her confidence grows from doing new things.

As the story moves, Laura travels to Ireland to try and convince the reclusive and enigmatic Dermott Flynn to appear for the festival as a guest. Dermot is a sexy hero and as the story progresses, Laura falls in love with Dermot. But, Dermot is a maddening, temperamental and up to his ears in a nasty case of writer’s block. So the riotous relationship between the pair, both professional and personal rises out in the tale. Did Katie win in her love?

As per the story narration, Dermot Flynn is the potential star attraction that the author must bring on plot to make it a success. It is amazing as the novel progresses how Katie portrays the literary and non literary authors.
